

























































The National Arboretum - featuring Columns from the original East Portico of the Capitol Building in 1828. The National Cathedral - Pierre L’Enfant’s 1791 design for a “great church for national purposes” in the new capital city sat idle until 1893 where a congressional charter authorized a cathedral dedicated to religion, education and charity. President Theodore Roosevelt helped lay the foundation stone in 1907. President George H.W. Bush saw the final stone set atop the towers in 1990. The Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery and Museum of American Art was my last stop for the day.
